Violence Hero Riki-Oh by Tetsuya Saruwatari is the most insane, f'd up thing I've EVER read...

I'm not good with plot summary, so here's the plot from Wiki: The story is set in a dystopian alternative universe where global warming has devastated most of the earth and the world is suffering from an economic depression which led to increased crime. The story centers around Saiga Riki-Oh, blessed with inhuman strength, who, after taking revenge against a yakuza who was responsible for the death of a child who befriended him (in the movie it was his girlfriend that died), ends up in a maximum security prison owned by a private organization. The story follows Riki and his search for his little brother Saiga Nachi who bears a Swastika symbol on his right hand and also possesses superhuman strength. Riki-Oh will encounter many deadly opponents with either superhuman strength or martial arts during his travel for avenging his mother and in search of his brother.

Anyway, this is the kind of manga where every other page is just like "O.o I wasn't expecting THAT to happen!" The characters are all completely ridiculous, each in his own crazy way, like Nachi the Nazi Son of God, the Pedophile Surgeon Veteran from the Iraq War who schemes to destroy the Ozone Layer, and the Hook-handed assistant prison warden who keeps breath mints in his glass eye. There's not one character that doesn't have some trait that's just so crazy the weirdos from One Piece would be freaked out by it.

The situations are no less ridiculous and insane than the characters, with things like the secret city on the secret cape of Japan that nobody knows about, where Nazi robots ride elephants, because there are elephants at the secret city on the secret cape of Japan no one knows about...

It's also been adapted into a notorious Hong Kong movie, the Story of Ricky, which is a scene for scene completely accurate adaptation of the first few volumes, minus the hints at the rest of the plot. This means the movie is just as amazing and just as insane as the manga. The English dub is your typical horrible Kung Fu movie dub, but it doesn't make to many departures from the subtitle script. I can't say for sure, but I think the Cantonese and Mandarin tracks might be dubs as well, in classic Hong Kong style. If you really want to get a feel for Riki-Oh, this scene should give you a fairly accurate representation of what this show is about:

heh, yeah, that movie is literally scene for scene right out of the first couple of volumes of the manga, so I'd say the manga is exactly like that, only more graphic

You guys just don't understand how amazing Riki-Oh really is. I mean come on, he's a hero!

I mean look at this quote: "The swastika represents a universal explosion through the corona of the sun, while the two equilateral triangles the six-pointed star is composed of represent nuclear fission and nuclear fusion. In other words, they express theism and atheism, respectively."

Have you actually looked at the art style? Unlike his mentor Koike (who I'll be making a post about sometime in the future) Tetsuya Saruwatari actually draws in a style closer to the typical manga style. The only thing that makes it look weird is it's full of ugly people instead of a cast of bishounen lol

This thing reminds me of a manga called akumetsu. Kind of the same thing but FAR more worse then this.Try having 100 clones of you and each one that dies has his head blown of from a mask that he wears

It's not the violence that makes this so ridiculous, it's the crazy story line
